Throughout our community of Sydney Catholic schools, we have shown high performance of our students in measures such as NAPLAN and the HSC.
Brigidine College Randwick has continued its fine academic reputation to once more produce significant results in the 2020 HSC. The College is exceptionally proud of our achievements.
For the second consecutive year, Brigidine College ranked 1st in Sydney Catholic Schools and 49th, of approximately 600 schools, in NSW. Brigidine College ranked 6th in the State for the English Standard results. Ten students were nominated for Art Express for Visual Arts, OnStage for Drama, ENCORE FOR MUSIC and Shape for Design and Technology
The College ATAR results witnessed:
- 1.2% of students received an ATAR of 99 or more
- 43% of students (48 students) received an ATAR of 90 or above
- 68% of students (76 students) received an ATAR of 80 or above
- 87% of students (98 students) received an ATAR of 70 or above.
- 4 students appeared on the All-Rounders list (Band 6 in at least 10 units of study)
- 67 (60%) students appeared on the Distinguished Achievers list (achieving a Band 6 in a subject). Between them, the students received 184 Band 6’s. 4 places were awarded on the Top Achievers list (a place in the top 10 Ranks in a subject in the State)
- 97% of all subjects were above the State average.
International Mathematical Modelling Challenge
The International Mathematical Modeling Challenge is a new team-based mathematical competition for Australian secondary students. Operating in teams, participants must work collaboratively to solve a problem by devising and applying an original mathematical model. In 2021 Brigidine College celebrated eight students from Year 10 and 11 for their dedication and commitment to this international challenge.
Australian Nuclear Science and Technology Organisation (ANSTO)
The Australian Nuclear Science and Technology Organisation (ANSTO) Science Medals are awarded to celebrate and encourage success in science, technology, engineering and mathematics subjects (STEM). Brigidine College recognises the outstanding achievement of one Year 10 student in the field of STEM.
National History Challenge
In 2021 Year 10 students from the Gifted and Talented class were offered the opportunity to enter the National History Challenge. The Challenge is a research-based competition which provides students the opportunity to be an historian, researching world history, examining Australia’s past, investigating their community or exploring their own roots. It emphasises and rewards quality research, the use of community resources and effective presentation. Brigidine College recognises the outstanding work of five Year 10 students, four attaining a Bronze Award and one student’s exceptional work was awarded a Silver Award in the Primary Research Category.
Duke of Edinburgh Program
The Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award is a leading structured (non-formal education) youth development program, empowering all young Australians aged 14-24 to explore their full potential and find their purpose, passion and place in the world, regardless of their location or circumstance. Participants are required to complete four sections: Voluntary Service, Skill, Physical Recreation and Adventurous Journey. 2021 recognises the outstanding determination and effort of four Silver Award recipients in Year 11 and one recipient of the Duke of Edinburgh Gold Award in Year 12.
